Expectations

1.  Regular and on time attendance at practices/rehearsals/performances. If you have any conflicts please email them to Faith at northtexasstarlettes@gmail.com preferably with a 1 month notice.

2. On time payment of fees- tuition, uniforms/costumes, etc.

3. Dancers and parents are expected to have kind and respectful attitudes towards coaches, teammates and other parents. Bullying and bad attitudes will not be tolerated.

4. Rehearsals/practices will be closed to parents/family members/friends to avoid distractions and to make the best use of rehearsal/practice time. Approximately once a month family/friends will be welcome to come in during the final 15 minutes of class for observation.

5. There will be a 10 minute window in between practice to allot for dancer pick-up/drop off & roll taking. Please be ready to pick up your dancer at 6:20pm or 7:20pm depending on your dancer’s age group.

6. The head coach/director may choose to move dancers into a higher or lower age bracket/team depending on skill/ability.

7. A dancer may be excused from the team for poor attendance or a bad attitude, bullying, etc. Every effort will be made to correct undesirable behavior before this decision is made. Dancers may be excused without reimbursement of any fees paid. A dancer may also be excused if their parent is engaging in poor behavior that is detrimental to the team.

8. The group practice/rehearsal before a performance is MANDATORY if the dancer is engaging in the upcoming performance.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Will there be multiple groups for ages depending on ability? What will the level of each team be?

We are a brand new team and open to dancers of all levels! I am confidant in my ability to coach these dancers up. Certain dancers may be asked to move up in age group depending on ability. Also dancers with more advanced skills could possibly be featured during the routine. In future season we may be adding another day to our schedule where we can further break down the groups/teams by level.

Will there be a way to make up missed practices?

As of right now there will not be because we are currently only practicing once per week.

Will there be practices/performances on Sundays?

We will never have practices/rehearsals on Sundays and I will do my best to avoid any performances on Sundays in order to keep it a day of rest with family.

What will the placement audition process look like and what should my dancer wear to the audition?

Dancers will be expected to wear fitted clothing (tank top, leotard, shorts, leggings, etc.) with light tennis shoes or jazz shoes with their hair in a ponytail or ½ up. Each dancer will be dropped off, checked in and given an audition number. Dancers will be warmed up and taught some across the floor exercises as well as a short dance routine. Teams will be announced within the week and dancers will be listed by number. 

My dancers can’t make the placement audition, can they still be a part of the team?

Any dancers that can’t make the placement audition are welcome to come during the month of August to do an in class audition. Please email Faith directly at northtexasstarlettes@gmail.com to confirm and the schedule your dancer's audition date/time.

What sizes do you expect each team to be and what will the age breakdowns be?

Teams should ideally have between 10-15+ dancers each.  As of right now these are the likely breakdowns of the teams but this is subject to change...

What are the sizes of the crowds at performances?

It really depends on the performance but I would hope that we would have a few hundred people at minimum watching our dancers perform! Pre Game performances will not be as populated as Half Time performances.

What will performances look like and what type of music?

Routines will be choreographed in a production style where the entire group will perform together, then each individual team will perform separately and the group will finish performing all together.  The music choices and choreography will always be fun, upbeat and family friendly. The dancers will learn this routine and perform it through June 2025.  We will also be learning other holiday inspired choreography throughout the year for local events.

Will dancers be required to wear make-up?

Dancers will need to wear light make up during performances to complete a uniform and polished performance look. This will include a little mascara, blush and lip gloss. Affordable make up recommendations will be given as we get closer to our first performance. 

Are dancers on the North Texas Starlettes and North Texas Hip Hop Crew allowed to be on other teams and take lessons at other studios/gym?

Absolutely! We encourage it so the dancers can benefit from increased training. It can get tricky if there are multiple conflicts so check in with teachers/coaches on both ends to make sure it is a good fit before committing. 

What will dancers be expected to wear during regular rehearsals/practices?

Dancers need to wear all black fitted athletic clothing (leotard, tank top, leggings, bike shorts, skirt, etc.) with light tennis shoes. Once we get our boots (Starlettes only) dancers may be required to bring them to specified rehearsals to break them in and get used to dancing in them as well.

How will rehearsals be structured?

Most rehearsals will consist of the following- a warm up with conditioning exercises, across the floor exercises and learning/cleaning/perfecting the routine(s).

Placement Audition Fee- $25 per dancer (see links on home page)

Tuition- $99 per dancer per month per team (collected automatically. Look for an email from Freshbooks to sign up. 

Tuition is same each month regardless of the amount of Mondays/Thursdays)

North Texas Starlettes Costume/Uniform- (Dress, Tights, Poms, Boots, Bow and Team Jacket.  Dresses & bows will be used up until June 2025. Jackets, boots and poms will be used until June 2026. Dancers who were members of our very first "Pre-Season" in 2024 will NOT have to re-purchase their uniform.  )

Tickets for performances/games: Dancer will be required to have a ticket along with any adult(s) or siblings/family/friends that would also want to attend. Tickets start at $10+ depending on the game and we will receive a group rate. You may receive a link to purchase or we will be collecting money to purchase tickets all at once. 

*For most dates we are still waiting for the teams to come out with their official schedules so we can book our dates.  Please note that the North Texas Starlettes and Hip Hop teams will LIKELY be performing on two separate dates during the same month of the "sporting" event performances.  *Dates are subject to change and more performances may be added as well.
